ABOUT THE CLASS


This interactive class is designed to provide basic information for individuals with access and functional needs, their families, and caregivers on preparing for and responding to disasters. Participants will learn how to make a plan, build a kit, and stay informed through discussion-based content and hands-on activities.

SPEAKER

Julia Beems, MA, Senior Instructor, Assistive Technology Program Outreach Coordinator, and Emergency Preparedness Program Coordinator with the Center for Inclusive Design and Engineering in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Center. She has been recognized as a National, State, and Local leader in including individuals with Access and Functional Needs in emergency planning and preparedness. Ms. Beems has developed an emergency preparedness program to assist first responders, emergency managers, and planners in including individuals with disabilities; and individuals with all types of disabilities and all ages to prepare for emergencies.
