ABOUT THE CLASS

Join us for a unique learning opportunity designed for Colorado Medicaid providers, members, family members, caregivers, and interested community members.

This training will help individuals create a backup power plan for their life-sustaining medical equipment, including how to prioritize multiple devices that require power during a power outage and how to account for special considerations. Low-tech solutions will also be discussed.

OBJECTIVE

Provide information on creating a backup power plan during emergencies, including considerations and types of equipment that require backup power.

SPEAKER

Julia Beems, MA, Senior Instructor, Assistive Technology Program Outreach Coordinator, and Emergency Preparedness Program Coordinator with the Center for Inclusive Design and Engineering in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Center. She has been recognized as a National, State, and Local leader in including individuals with Access and Functional Needs in emergency planning and preparedness. Ms. Beems has developed an emergency preparedness program to assist first responders, emergency managers, and planners in including individuals with disabilities; and individuals with all types of disabilities and all ages to prepare for emergencies.
